Koktejl Cuba Libre prý vznikl v jednom z barů ve staré části Havany. Psal se rok 1900 a američtí vojáci pomáhali Kubáncům vybojovat nezávislost nad Španělskem.

A po večerech se veselili právě v kubánských barech. Fausto Rodriguez pak nechal svému veliteli objednat právě netradiční mix rumu, coly a limetkové šťávy.

A podle příběhu prý během pár minut drželi sklenky s tímto nápojem v ruce i ostatní a společně křičeli: „Por Cuba Libre!“ – „Za svobodnou Kubu!“

Tenhle příběh má ale podle kritiků jeden háček – americká cola se prý na Kubu dostala až několik let poté, co tu válka proti Španělsku probíhala…

Interest with history:

Cuba Libre said to have originated in one of the bars in the old part of Havana. The year was 1900, and US soldiers helped the Cubans fight for independence from Spain.

And in the evenings just rejoice in Cuban bars. Fausto Rodriguez then let his commander ordered just an unusual mix of rum, cola and lime juice.

And according to the story, apparently within minutes they kept the glasses with the drink in the other and shouted together: „Por Cuba Libre!“ – „For a Free Cuba!“

This story is but according to critics, one snag – American cola is said to Cuba reached until several years after the war against Spain ran …
